Anjelica is known for her playful hand lettering, so she experimented with a mature lettering style for this project, while staying true to the books’ young adult genre. The lettering is carefully weaved into the floral illustrations on the front covers, and was simplified for the books’ spines.

Looking for Alaska was designed with dark blue typography as an homage to Alaska’s dark blue nail polish. The Fault in Our Stars features lavender as reflecting cancer awareness, while also contrasting against the orange tulips Hazel Grace was once gifted. Turtles All The Way Down utilizes teal in respect for Aza’s obsessive-compulsive disorder.
